The O'Neill Treble Voices is an auditioned choir of treble voices (soprano and alto range). It is comprised of students in grades 10-12. While this choir sometimes runs as a course, it will run as an extra-curricular ensemble for the 2018-19 school year. (Ensembles running as courses are subject to student enrolment numbers and course allocation school-wide). This ensemble rehearses on Wednesdays from 2:40-4:30 and has student led sectionals on Mondays at lunch. Students are expected to be able to independently hold their parts. They are developing sight reading skills and ear training. Demonstrating musicality is essential to a successful audition. The director for the 2018-19 school year is Ms. Allison.
The O'Neill Chamber Choir is an auditioned mixed voice ensemble (soprano, alto, tenor and bass) of grade 11 and 12 students. This course (AMJ 3M3/4M3) is limited to 27 students. As this is a course during semester 1, students must audition for this choir in February of the previous school year. The class meets daily for a 75-minute period during semester 1. In semester 2, the Chamber Choir continues to rehearse once per week on Tuesdays from 2:30-5pm and attend student led sectionals on Fridays at lunch (or another agreeable time for the section). Students in this ensemble have a rigorous performance schedule performing at many community and school events. They are required to be independent learners due to the volume and difficulty of music that is performed. Students must have some sight reading ability and this skill continues to be a focus of the course. The student's ear must be developed enough to be capable of holding a part independently. Students must also demonstrate the ability to phrase musically with attention to dynamic variance, expression of words and musical line. The director for the 2018-19 school year is Ms. Collins.

This ensemble rehearses Tuesdays from 2:30-3:45 (Semester 1) and Thursdays 2:30-3:45 (all year). Second semester will have a Wednesday morning rehearsal at 7:15-8:10 when necessary.
